Hospitality management is a mix of day-to-day operations and customer service. It transmits the skills of customer service which is the basic of nearly every job role. You will be working behind the scenes in positions that may include food service and catering. Hospitality management includes handling different types of operations that includes but are not restricted to hotels, restaurant chains, resorts, casinos, travel and tour agencies and airlines. The idea that hospitality professionals spend their entire time on their feet and working on holidays is not true. It is true that many hospitality operations could be opened 24 hours a day. It is also true that hospitality employees and managers need to run those operations on the weekends and holidays. However, not all employees are required to work every weekend and every holiday. Companies have become more generous with employees taking their time off as well as staff retention is very important from a successful business operation.
